The Books Speak for Themselves (almost)
Dr. Timothy Boswell was my editor on two book projects. As I plan a third book, I cannot imagine the project without Dr. Boswell. He is an outstanding writer and listens well, assuring the vision of the author is accomplished. Dr. Boswell has a servant’s heart and is a team player. I call him a friend as well as a co-worker. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Timothy Boswell as a writer and editor.

My book would never have been a polished, finished product if not for Tim. He told me in our first conversation after he was assigned to my manuscript that he would not change the style in which I wrote. Tim did nudge me in the right direction to expand on description and emotion, which I did to his approval. After Tim rearranged and combined some sentences and compressed 29 chapters to 24, my book was ready to go. If anyone would review Black Cat 2-1 you know having Tim Boswell on your team, and in this case “in the cockpit” with me, produces a solid book.

“Nervous” was the only word to describe my feelings when I forwarded my eight-year-old, 400-plus-page manuscript to my new editor. “Delighted” was the first word that raced through my mind each and every time I finished reviewing Tim’s handiwork. His turnaround time was impressive, his edits clear and concise, deletion recommendations on target, and suggestions to improve background settings impressive. We developed such a close relationship that he had the courage to recommend that I change the title of my book from “Gentlemen Do Not Read Each Others’ Mail” to its present title. Tim’s reasoning and insight were spot on. For my next book, which is in the works, Tim will be on my team.

All I can say is wow… I am truly proud and humbled. Tim, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. This process and your guidance has meant so much to me I cannot express it in words. For probably the first time in my life I am speechless. You have made this better than I could have imagined and I want you to know I am beyond honored no matter what happens. I worked with a couple editors before you briefly and I was really lucky to find you. I felt ‘finally, someone on the same page.’ Amazingly enough we have film interest in Los Angeles by a really cool writer/director. Excited for the galleys and the future no matter what!

About your guide
When he was a kid, Timmy Boswell played with toy dinosaurs, He-Man, and G.I. Joes like the other boys—except his play involved writing out elaborate stories about their adventures. This love of words later carried him through a bachelor’s in writing through interdisciplinary studies (magna cum laude), a master’s in creative writing (4.0 GPA), and a Ph.D. in creative writing (with distinction).
Going by Tim now—or Dr. Boswell to some—he works full-time as the managing editor for the international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal Studies in the Novel, and he previously worked as managing editor for American Literary Review. He has taught 16 sections of university-level writing courses, teaches writing privately, and has collaborated with authors on over two dozen published books. He lives in Fort Worth, Texas, with his wife and three sons.
